In this issue:

  • Spotlight on Las Vegas: Three pure golf escapes: Primm Valley, Paiute, and The Chase, fresh off its debut at TPC Coyote Springs
  • Rio Grande, Puerto Rico: The most convenient Caribbean island to the US is staging a comeback as a golf destination
  • Hot Deals: Great opportunities for travel to Scottsdale, Kiawah, Sea Island and more.

Las Vegas has long been one of our favorite destinations. This month includes a report on our first visit to the PGA Golf Club at Coyote Springs. This newly opened facility boasts an excellent Jack Nicklaus design and great rates. We also examine two multiple course venues, one by Pete Dye (Las Vegas Paiute) and one by Tom Fazio (Primm Valley) and highlight several notable lodging additions to the Strip. With convention business down and room capacity up, there has never been a better time to visit Las Vegas. Not only are deals everywhere, but it is meaningfully less crowded.

Even though it is such an easy trip, it has been many years since we even considered a journey to Puerto Rico. With a slew of restorations and new developments (both completed and soon-to-be) spanning courses and lodging, we were lured back to this convenient Caribbean island. While it has not yet regained its crown as the best golf destination in the Caribbean, it is well on its way to re-establishing its credibility.

For those of you looking to escape the cold, there are some hot deals in top-notch places. Check out the back cover of this month's issue for hot deals not just in Las Vegas and Puerto Rico, but Kiawah, Scottsdale, Sea Island and from many of the properties in the Four Seasons chain.
