In this issue:

  • Kohler's Riverbend: A rare look into the private and little known "club within a club" at Wisconsin's famed Kohler resort
  • Spotlight on Vancouver Island: Extensive golf, lodging and dining options at this lovely island situated off of British Columbia

The August 2008 issue opens with an inside look into Riverbend, the little-known (and private) "club within a club" at Destination Kohler in Wisconsin. Normally, Riverbend is only open to its 300 members, who paid an initiation fee of up to $150,000 for the privilege. This month's issue reveals how Golf Odyssey subscribers can make a one-time visit to this extraordinary club and why Riverbend takes Kohler's noted hospitality to even greater heights.

This issue also takes readers to one of North America's top up-and-coming golf destinations, Vancouver Island, just north of Seattle in British Columbia. In addition to sporting an idyllic climate and beautiful surroundings, Vancouver Island now is home to no less than four worthy golf courses. We review the two new Jack Nicklaus designs at Bear Mountain Resort as well as two noted private clubs, Royal Colwood and Victoria Golf Club, each of which can be accessed by Golf Odyssey subscribers. Also not to be missed is Capilano, another accessible private club on the British Columbia mainland that is regularly ranked among the top courses in all of Canada.
