We open the decade with a return trip to Miami's Doral Golf Resort & Spa. The home to the famed Blue Monster and perennial host of a PGA Tour event is in the midst of major renovations, both on- and off-course. In our 19 years of publication, we have generally viewed Doral as one of the most overrated golf resorts in the country. See why our most recent visit also left us with mixed feelings.

As all eyes in the golf world await the opening of Old Macdonald, the fourth course at Bandon Dunes, we had the opportunity to spend some time with Bandon Dunes visionary owner, Mike Keiser. Mike provides some great insights into the creation of Old Macdonald and other goings on at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

One of the best additions to the golf travel landscape in recent years has been the spate of outstanding golf courses (usually free of surrounding housing) built on Native American homelands. This month we share why The Journey at Pechanga, situated in the heart of Southern California's wine country is indeed a worthy journey for many a golf traveler.

In Secrets From the World of Golf Travel, we check in on the ground-breaking of Trump International near Aberdeen, Scotland; detail the changes and challenges taking place at the most over-hyped golf course opening in recent memory, Erin Hills; and determine whether or not the discount cards offered by industry heavyweights Preferred Hotels and Troon Golf are worth your while (and wallet).

Hot Deals at Press Time includes the best deal we have ever seen at Pinehurst as well as specials from La Quinta, PGA National, Doral and The Journey at Pechanga.
